Full lockout condition occurs
The main parameter for the Ministry of Health is the occupation of beds in hospitals. They are now 52% employed. The situation will become critical when this figure reaches 80%.
Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said a strict quarantine would be introduced in Ukraine in the event of a collapse of the medical system. He said it on Monday night, November 23, on the air of ICTV.
Stepanov explained that when the government talks about strengthening the quarantine, it is based on the workload of the medical system.
“Looking at the current dynamics, we can say that this (critical workload – ed.) From 25 to 30 thousand (daily new cases – ed.). In this case, the occupation of our medical system can be about 80%, and this is already a serious figure “, – he said.
According to Stepanov, 52% of beds for coronavirus patients are currently occupied in Ukraine. The most tense situation is with the occupation of hospitals in Kiev, Odessa and the Kharkov region.
There are still about 12 thousand beds available, equipped with oxygen, however, the situation in the regions is different.
“On the morning of November 23, 25,996 beds are equipped with oxygen, this number increases every day. The situation is heterogeneous in all regions of the country, if in the entire country we have 12,168 free beds with oxygen, then for example in the Kherson region there are almost 1000 beds, and in Kiev – 278. There are regions where there is a problem, these are Kiev, the Cherkasy region, the Kharkiv region “, – said Stepanov, adding that capacities are increasing there along with local authorities.
Stepanov also clarified the situation with the supply of COVID-19 vaccines to Ukraine.
