The budget for vaccination provides 2.6 billion UAH.

The amount allocated for vaccination is not enough and therefore the ministry is urgently looking for where to obtain additional funds.

The head of the Ministry of Health, Maxim Stepanov, said that 15.1 billion hryvnia are needed for vaccination, but only 2.6 billion hryvnia have been allocated in the budget for 2021. On Thursday, December 17, he announced it in a briefing.

“To finance vaccination, the calculated amount to be budgeted is 15.1 billion hryvnia, but 2.6 billion hryvnia has so far been allocated for vaccination in the 2021 budget,” said the head of the Health Ministry.

According to the head of the Ministry of Health, given that the amount of 2,600 million is not enough, the department is urgently looking for sources of additional funds.

In the course of relevant consultations with the government and experts, the Ministry of Health reached a final decision.

“We can accumulate up to 2.3 billion UAH for the purchase of vaccines, for example, by saving medicines,” Stepanov said.

Earlier, Zelensky said that the COVID vaccine should be received in January. Ukraine is not yet included in the list of 92 countries that will receive the vaccine as a priority, the head of state admitted.
