The Ministry of Health explained the ban on the sale of socks: a request from companies

The Ministry of Health says that this is how they responded to the request of the entrepreneurs themselves and supported their business.

The sale of non-essential products in supermarkets at the closing was prohibited at the request of the company. This was stated by the chief health doctor, Viktor Lyashko, in an interview with lb.ua on Friday, January 15.

Before the introduction of the blockade, we had many meetings with commercial representatives, the deputy minister stressed.

“Now I will say something so secret: these restrictions are a business request,” Lyashko said in response to a question about the ban on the sale of socks and non-essential products in supermarkets.

As explained by the vice minister, there is a business that exclusively sells dishes, clothes or toys.

“And they lose during the quarantine, because they are closed, and the nearby supermarkets continue to operate and sell dishes, clothes and toys. We are not imposing restrictions because the virus is transmitted through socks,” Lyashko added.

Let us remind you that earlier Shmygal explained the danger of buying socks. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers pointed out that complaints and jokes about the prohibition of the sale of non-food products in supermarkets are multiplying in society.

Shmygal also said what restrictions will remain. The enhanced quarantine will not be extended after January 24, but the mask regime and social distancing will be maintained throughout the year.
