Maxim Stepanov recalled the danger of influenza
The seasonal flu, which is expected to peak in Ukraine in February, has the same complications as the coronavirus: pneumonia.
In February, in addition to the COVID-19 pandemic, an increase in the incidence of seasonal flu is expected in Ukraine. This was announced by the Minister of Health, Maxim Stepanov, on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24.
He recalled that the flu has the same complications as the coronavirus: pneumonia.
“If we look ahead a bit, we expect a traditional increase in the incidence of influenza in February, and we must approach this period with minimal numbers. Because influenza has the same complications as the coronavirus, pneumonia. These are the same hospitals in those that today, the same specialists treat COVID-19, therefore, we need our medical system to resist and so that in spring we do not go to strict quarantines, so that we adhere to the established rules, “said the minister.
At the same time, he noted that at the moment Ukraine is ranked 29th in Europe in terms of coronavirus mortality per million inhabitants. Also, this figure has decreased since spring.
“There is a mortality rate per million inhabitants. And according to it, Ukraine ranks 29th in Europe. France, Great Britain, Spain and Italy are ahead of us with a mortality two or three times higher. That is, countries that they have a more developed medical system. ” Stepanov said.
According to him, in the spring, the death rate from COVID was 2.9% and now it is 1.7%.
Today during a briefing, Stepanov also said that Ukrainians started doing less COVID testing.
It was previously reported that Ukrainians are sicker with the flu than last year.
