At the Ternopil City Council session on March 5, the decision was made to name the city’s stadium: Ternopil City Stadium, after Roman Shukhevych.
Lyon on March 9 on its Facebook page demanded to cancel the decision to change the name of the stadium.
“We strongly condemn the decision of the Ternopil City Council to name the city’s stadium after the infamous Hauptmann of the 201 battalion, Schutzmanschaft Shukhevych, and we demand the immediate cancellation of this decision,” Lyon said.
The Ternopil mayor’s office, citing city chief Serhiy Nadal, noted that the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army was “not only an exemplary commander, but also a good athlete and leader in many sports.”
