The currency market is now uninteresting for speculators, says Marchenko.
Large jumps in the exchange rate should not be expected and fluctuations of up to 10% are within the normal range, the minister said.
Throughout the year, the hryvnia exchange rate can fluctuate in the range of up to 10%, said Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko. He expressed this opinion on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24 on Tuesday, February 2.
“Nothing happens with the hryvnia exchange rate. This is normal practice when there are market prices in the exchange rate market, that is, there is no influence from someone or something. The BNU is actively working with interventions, if necessary. Ministry of Finance, the state as a whole, the formation of a stable exchange rate is a normal good that we have had for a sufficient number of years, “he said.
The minister is confident that there will be no sharp jumps of hryvnia.
“There is no risk that there could be sharp fluctuations today. There is no reason to believe that the hryvnia should be greatly strengthened or devalued. There may be minor fluctuations within 10%, and this is normal. I think that, in principle, this is not necessary to pay attention, and all the speculators who wanted to make money in this market may not be interested now, “he said.
Note that analysts predict that in the first half of 2021, the hryvnia will strengthen to 27.6 per dollar.
