The American destroyer John S. McCain has entered Russian territorial waters in the Sea of Japan for two kilometers, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
In the Sea of Japan, the American destroyer John S. McCain (DDG-56) “invaded” the territorial waters of Russia. This was announced on November 24 by the Russian Defense Ministry, reports RBC.
The Russian department claims that the American ship has penetrated two kilometers into the territory of the Russian Federation.
“The violation was stopped” by the anti-submarine ship of the Russian Pacific Fleet “Admiral Vinogradov”, according to the Defense Ministry. It sent a warning to the US destroyer that it was ready to carry out a ramming maneuver to remove it from territorial waters and also headed toward John S. McCain, RBC notes.
The Russian Defense Ministry explained that “after the warning received, the American ship immediately left neutral waters.”
Until recently, John S. McCain (DDG-56) was in Japan for repairs. The destroyer is named after Fleet Admirals John McCain Sr. and John McCain Jr., respectively, father and grandfather of Republican Senator John McCain III.
