Legendary Soviet artist Armen Dzhigarkhanyan died in hospital of cardiac arrest due to kidney disease and edema, TASS reports on Saturday, November 14, citing a source from the actor’s entourage.

“Previously, the cause of death of Armen Borisovich was cardiac arrest due to kidney disease and edema of the body against the background of other chronic diseases,” the agency source said.

A friend of artist Artur Soghomonyan told Interfax that Dzhigarkhanyan will be buried in the Vagankovskoye cemetery.

Dzhigarkhanyan died at the age of 86. in recent years he has had health problems. In April 2018, the actor was hospitalized for heart problems. On April 26, Dzhigarkhanyan was hospitalized with a heart attack and fell into a coma, but then came out of it.

Armen Dzhigarkhanyan is the People’s Artist of the USSR and has been awarded two state awards from the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic.

Dzhigarkhanyan’s filmography includes more than 200 paintings.
