There may not be a total lockdown
Authorities may abandon the idea of a total quarantine and simply tighten restrictions in January, the media write.
Instead of a blockade in December, an improved quarantine can be introduced in Ukraine from January 2 to 23, writes RBC-Ukraine on Thursday, December 3.
The publication refers to sources from the Cabinet and the Presidency.
“There is no final decision, this is one of 3-4 job options,” said a source in the Cabinet of Ministers.
It should be noted that we are talking about an enhanced quarantine and not a lockdown. The logic behind this scenario is that in January business activity is already falling sharply.
In turn, the interlocutor of the publication about Bankova said that the idea of increasing restrictions after the New Year is supported by President Vladimir Zelensky.
Note that on the eve of the Cabinet decided not to extend the weekend quarantine. From now on, the restrictions of the “orange” zone will apply throughout the country.
Previously, the media reported that a strict quarantine would be introduced from December 23 to January 15.
