It was previously learned that the Cherkasy region prosecutor’s office announced the start of an investigation into possible illegal actions by Cherkasy city council officials in deciding on the weakening of the quarantine in Cherkasy.
On April 30, the Cherkasy City Council decided to weaken the quarantine after massive appeals from businessmen. They allowed to open non-food shops, hairdressers, summer restaurants and other facilities.
Internal Affairs Minister Arsen Avakov warned Cherkasy Mayor Anatoly Bondarenko of responsibility in case of unauthorized cancellation of quarantine in the city. The national police initiated a criminal process against the Cherkasy authorities due to the early weakening of the quarantine and called the city mayor to question him.
