The Manchester derby ends with no goals scored

The match between the two Manchester teams was awaited with great interest, because in the history of these rivals there have been many matches of authentic struggle, and many times with an abundance of goals. And for the Ukrainian fans it was probably curious to see the confrontation between two former Shakhtar players, Fernandinho and Fred. But Ukraine player Oleksandr Zinchenko was unfortunately unable to play in the match at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately, most of the expectations were not met. The first twenty minutes the teams played without a goal, and only in the second half of the first half did they show enough activity.

The first shot on goal was made by Jesús in the 26th minute. After a pass from Marez, he fired from the summer, but over the goal. Manchester United responded in the 31st minute when, following a corner kick from the right wing, Maguire made a dangerous header but here the ball flew over the crossbar.

And the most dangerous moment of the game was created in the 35th minute. It was De Bruyne who led Marez to the goal with an excellent pass. He went one-on-one with De Gea, but he shot straight at the goalkeeper. The ball bounced towards De Bruyne and the Manchester City player shot over the goal.

At the start of the second half, in the 47th minute, match referee Chris Kavanagh awarded a penalty for a foul against Rashford in the visitors’ penalty area. But, after consulting with VAR assistants, the judges found that the Manchester United forward had been offside prior to this episode. The penalty, of course, was canceled.

That’s probably it. The entire second half was of little interest. The opponents rolled the ball for a long time and only at the end of the match did they hit the goal several times. By the way, in such an apparently principled meeting of compatriots, the referee showed only two warnings. And they were received by two captains: Maguire in minute 79 and Fernandinho in 87.

As a result, a boring 0-0 draw. Now Manchester United have 20 points in the standings, while Manchester City have 19.
