A map of Ukraine without Russian-occupied Crimea appeared on the official YouTube channel of the Lviv City Council. This caused a scandal on the network, as a result of which the videos were removed, and the authors justified themselves, explaining that they had no ill intention.
On Tuesday, December 22, the association department of the “Council Secretariat” of the Lviv City Council published four videos in which the principle of the work of the mayor’s office, deputies and officials of Lviv was explained to school children. Each one showed a map without a peninsula, writes ZAXID.NET (to see the photo, scroll the page to the end).
After that, Lviv political observer Dmitry Posipanko drew attention to the error on Telegram.
“The 24 second of each of these videos. This is a map of Ukraine! And where is Crimea? Are the authors and project participants ready to explain why this happened?” – He commented.
Immediately after that, the videos were removed.
It is observed that the collaboration department of the City Council acted as a partner of the project and the public organization “Parents in Action” participated in the production.
The organization’s former head, Yulia Gvozdovich, told the publication that the videos were being altered, but initially they did not pay attention to the map.
“The project was carried out by parents at night voluntarily, wishing the best for the children of the city, so that they had a social conscience. They had no bad intentions. We apologize for the typo. Crimea is Ukraine!” – she said.
Furthermore, the associations department reacted to the scandal, calling it a “bothersome mistake” that will be corrected as soon as possible. They recalled that the Lviv City Council has repeatedly demonstrated its position on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
