Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba commented on the possibility of passing a law to resolve the situation of dual citizenship in Ukraine. He said there are real possibilities for this.
He stated this at a joint press conference with Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Economy and Foreign Affairs, Peter Siyjarto, in Uzhgorod.
“For us, this question is much broader than only on the part of the Ukrainian Hungarians. So I understand that it is the Hungarian question that hurts them, but this is a much broader question. The answer to your question is the next: there are real possibilities, “said Kuleba.
Note that in early June, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said that the country should find a balanced solution for the introduction of dual citizenship. However, there should be exceptions for certain categories of Ukrainians, as well as for states.
As RBC-Ukraine wrote, in May the Verkhovna Rada decided to remove the presidential bill on dual citizenship from the agenda.
At the same time, the head of parliament Dmitry Razumkov said that the introduction of dual citizenship is possible, but requires additional study and the preparation of legislative norms to protect national interests.
