The reproaches to Russia for treason because of its position in Nagorno-Karabakh are absolutely untenable, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. TASS quotes him on Friday, November 13.
According to him, Moscow did not forget its obligations under the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO).
Peskov noted that the Minsk Group proposed formulas for a settlement in Karabakh, the adoption of which a few years ago would have prevented hostilities.
The Russian leader’s spokesman added that Moscow values friendship with both Armenia and Azerbaijan. He called on the Russian Federation as an impartial mediator in a situation of territorial conflict.
On November 10, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to end hostilities and deploy Russian peacekeepers along the line of contact and along the Lachin corridor connecting Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Furthermore, according to the agreement of the parties, until December 1, the territories of four districts will return to the control of Baku: Gazakh, Agdam, Kelbajar and Lachin. A communication corridor with Karabakh remains behind Armenia.
