The Kremlin reacted to the words of its own media about the possibility of a Russian attack on Ukraine in the event of an escalation of the conflict in Donbass, urging to pay attention to the publications, but at the same time to be guided by official statements.
The position of the Russian government was expressed by the press secretary of the head of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov. He was quoted by the REN television channel.
“Pay attention to the publications in the Russian media, but be guided by the official statements and, of course, always proceed from the fact that the safety of the Russian-speaking people of Donbass is very important to Russia,” he replied.
Let us remind you: on March 9, on channel Russia 1, the main propagandist of the Kremlin, Vladimir Solovyov, discussed with the guests of the study the possibility of a Russian bombing of Ukrainian cities. Participants in the broadcast stated that Ukraine is now allegedly attacking Crimea and concentrating its troops in the Donbass. In this sense, as Solovyov put it, Russia “has no choice” but to protect “its citizens” from the “Flag hordes.”
The Commander of the Voluntary Army of Ukraine, the former People’s Deputy Dmitry Yarosh believes that the irregular troops of the Russian army in Donbass fear an attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and are preparing for offensive operations. At the same time, the Russian Federation may go on the offensive not from the east, but from the north or south.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, Ukraine’s former Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Yuriy Hrymchak said that Russia is raising the stakes in Donbass and is ready to openly introduce its troops into Ukraine. Another escalation may occur in the near future.
