The King of Thailand pardoned the Ukrainians in honor of his birthday

The 16 imprisoned Ukrainian citizens fell under the royal pardon. Some of them had their sentences reduced and others were released.

King Rama X of Thailand, in honor of his birthday, pardoned all 16 Ukrainian prisoners in the country. At the same time, seven of them were completely released. This was announced on Tuesday, October 6, by the press service of the Embassy of Ukraine in Thailand.

“On the occasion of the birthday of Thai monarch Rama X, during August-December 2020, the collective royal pardon of detainees in penal institutions of the Kingdom of Thailand continues, which will also apply to imprisoned Ukrainian citizens. According to preliminary results, all Ukrainian citizens imprisoned in Thailand (16 people) received a royal pardon, “the message reads.

Thus, two people received pardon in the form of a reduction in the terms of the sentence by 1/6 of the current prison sentence (excluding time spent in prison), seven people – by 1/2, the seven citizens remaining from Ukraine were completely released from custody.
