The Kiev court restored the old name to Bandera Avenue

Today, February 11, it emerged that a court in Kiev restored Bandera Avenue to its old name.

The corresponding judicial decision was published in the Unified Registry of Judicial Decisions.

The District Administrative Court of the city of Kiev resolved to invalidate and annul the decision of the Kiev City Council dated 07.07.2016 No. 559/559 “On the renaming of streets, avenues and lanes in the city of Kiev”.

Thus, the court annulled the decision to change the name of Suvorov Street to the street of the SS Galicia division organizer Mikhail Omelyanovich-Pavlenko and Moskovsky Prospekt on Stepan Bandera Avenue.

Recall that in the summer of 2019, the District Administrative Court of the city of Kiev ruled that Moskovsky and General Vatutin avenues were renamed Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych in violation of the procedure. Therefore, the court canceled the Kiev City Council’s decision to change the name.

However, already in December of the same year, the Sixth Court of Appeal of Kiev confirmed the decision of the Kiev City Council to change the name of Moskovsky Avenue to Stepan Bandera Avenue and General Vatutin Avenue to Roman Shukhevych Avenue.
