The defense of the musician and volunteer Andrei Antonenko, who appears in the case of the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet, requested an attenuation of the preventive measure for the musician, as his health deteriorated. Kiev’s Shevchenkovsky District Court, in a meeting on December 17, refused to change the restraint measure of the musician and volunteer Andrei Antonenko, who appears in the murder case of journalist Pavel Sheremet. The correspondent of the “GORDON” edition reports on this.

Antonenko’s defense requested a mitigation of the measure restricting the arrest to a personal obligation, as the musician’s health deteriorated.

The court rejected the request, but ordered the Health Center of the State Prison Service in Kiev and the Kiev region, as well as the director of the pre-trial detention center where Antonenko was staying, to ensure that medical care was provided. and proper treatment as prescribed by a physician.

The court also agreed to transfer Antonenko to hospital.

During the meeting, the musician’s defense said that he was suspected of having a coronavirus infection, as one of the lawyers had confirmed COVID-19, and another is now in self-isolation and is awaiting test results.

Antonenko told the public that he had problems with his heart and teeth.

“This content affects. Well, I have problems with the blood vessels, and now I have problems with my leg. I once had surgery on my legs. Deep vein thrombophlebitis. I cannot explain this, I am not a doctor. And something starts to hurt in my chest Everything is somehow sudden. And what kind of morals can there be in a person who has been in jail for a year, “he said.

Dr. Vladislav Gorbovets, who operated on Antonenko in 2016, said: complications from the disease can lead to the death of the musician.

“Maybe the development of trophic ulcers. Since he was in prison, all my efforts were in vain. And I don’t even talk about venous insufficiency. There are many problems. I was offended to see him in the state I saw. Complications, for example, thrombophlebitis , a fatal case is possible. Not necessarily, but there is such a threat, “he said.

Sheremet died on July 20, 2016 in Kiev blowing up a car, owned by the co-founder of the publication “Ukrainian Truth”, the wife of journalist Alena Prytula. The prosecutor’s office rated the incident as premeditated murder, committed in a way dangerous to the lives of many people.

Eventually, Kuzmenko was released from the 24-hour pre-trial detention center, Dugar; out of personal obligation, Antonenko has been in custody for almost a year. The last time the containment measure for the three was extended until February 7.

Investigators believe Kuzmenko and Antonenko planted the explosives under Sheremet’s car. The latter was called the organizer of a criminal group. Dugar was allegedly involved in “intelligence”: she was looking for CCTV cameras on the conspirators’ route.
