The Ukrainian State Investigation Bureau (SBI) has accused the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Air Force (Air Force) Sergei Drozdov of negligence in a criminal case concerning the accident of an An-26 military plane in the region of Kharkiv. Write about this TASS.
A similar charge was brought against the commander of the military unit, and its flight leader was also charged with violating the rules for managing departures. According to the RRT, in this unit, there was a systematic neglect of regulations for the operation of aircraft and preparation for flights.
The investigation also believes that the catastrophe on board the An-26 occurred due to violations, both in the preparation stage for departure and during the control of the ship in the air. “The degree of guilt and responsibility of each military man who was involved in the operation of the An-26 aircraft will still be verified,” the RRB said.
Earlier it was learned that the pilot who died in the plane crash repeatedly noticed technical failures on the ship. On the day of the tragedy, he called his mother and told her that the An-26 had several engine failures in the preparation stage for the flight.
On September 25, an An-26 military transport plane crashed in the Kharkiv region. This happened during a training flight at a distance of two kilometers from the airport. The plane was carrying military pilots and cadets from the Kharkiv National Air Force University named after Ivan Kozhedub. In total there were 27 people on board, 26 of them died.
