The port director and his intermediary were arrested while receiving a $ 250,000 bribe. The official extorted money for agreeing to a plan to reorganize a bankrupt private company.

The head of the state-owned company Chornomorsk Sea Commercial Port was detained by employees of the National Anti-Corruption Office of Ukraine (NABU) after being convicted of extortion and receiving an illegal profit of $ 250,000, reports the NABU press service.

“The head of a state company demanded money to agree on a reorganization plan for a bankrupt private company, in whose committee of creditors the SOE had the majority of votes. This company was negotiating with private investors. he demanded a “loyalty” fee, estimating it at $ 250,000, “he said in the message.

The head of the state company acted through a representative of another creditor of the private company, who, having received a bribe, intended to transfer the money to a senior official.

Both were detained by law enforcement officers. The issue of informing them of suspicions and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.
