The country must avoid total quarantine, said the head of the Ministry of Health. A complete lockdown, he said, will negatively affect the Ukrainian economy.

Ukraine’s Health Minister Maxim Stepanov opposed the introduction of a total blockade in the country. He said this in a briefing on Friday, October 30.

According to him, the adaptive quarantine strategy is correct.

“In my opinion, based on various factors, including economic ones, a complete lockdown … We should avoid it as much as possible,” he said.

Stepanov noted that restrictions are being introduced for companies, but the institutions are not closed.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health named the conditions for the introduction of a strict quarantine. Currently, the healthcare system is bearing the burden. They decided to keep the hard lock as a backup option.
