The Hague District Court summons Russian military personnel from the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade for questioning. They are cited as witnesses in the case of the downing of Flight MH17 in the skies over Donbas in 2014.
The defense of one of the main suspects in this case, Russian career officer Oleg Pulatov, requested such questioning. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine.
By the way, alternative versions of the accident of flight MH17 will not be considered: the decision of the court in The Hague
As the chairman of the judging panel, Hendrik Steinhanks, explained, such an interrogation is needed to find out whether the Russian army of this brigade was involved in the transport of the Buk anti-aircraft missile system to the territory of Ukraine.
The judges also emphasized that Russia had previously rejected legal assistance in this case. However, now they hope that she can help if the request is from the defendant or his lawyers.
By the way, the Hague court decided to reject the rest of the claims of Oleg Pulatov’s lawyers. In particular, we are talking about the questioning of experts and witnesses who considered alternative versions of the downing of the plane, that is, not by the Russian army.
For their part, the prosecutors insisted on rejecting all the defense motions, except for the questioning as a witness of Sergei Dubinsky, who appears as a defendant in the case.
