President Volodymyr Zelensky did not try to hint at the possibility of renewing Ukraine’s nuclear status in a poll of Ukraine on October 25. Now Ukraine does not need to start talking about its own nuclear weapons.
This was stated in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategic Industries, Oleg Urusky.
“Today we do not have those opportunities (to restore nuclear status – ed.), And there is absolutely no need for this. We have obligations to the international community, which we will certainly adhere to. I think we can do much less financial resources to guarantee their safety, ”Urusky said.
The deputy prime minister does not consider it necessary to start negotiations on nuclear weapons for Ukraine, despite the fact that the war is being fought with Russia, which is a nuclear power.
Recall that Zelensky’s national poll on October 25 raised the question whether Ukraine needs to discuss at the international level the use of the security guarantees defined by the Budapest Memorandum.
Later, the president explained that there was no talk of restoring nuclear potential in this matter.
According to the preliminary results of the survey, more than 74% of citizens supported the issue of the Budapest Memorandum.
