Sergei Korniychuk commented on threats from separatists
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine believes that the announcement of the next bombing is explained by the populism of the separatist leader.
In the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the statements of the “DPR” on the postponement of the start of the bombing of Ukrainian positions on 9 September were called “populism”. This was stated by the Chief of the General Staff – Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Sergei Korniychuk on the air of ICTV.
“This is the third time they have endured it (bombings). First, this is a political statement, the populism of their leader. It aims to create psychosis, panic,” Korniychuk said.
When asked if the militants used the armistice time to gather forces with a view to a new offensive, Korniychuk replied affirmatively, but added that it was not massive.
“Violations are recorded, consisting of bombings, mostly involuntary, expanding their positions in our direction, using unmanned aerial vehicles, remote mining,” he said, noting that it was not on a large scale.
We will recall, the head of the “DPR” Denis Pushilin ordered to attack on September 7 an attack against the positions of the Ukrainian army in the area of the village of Shumy, Donetsk region. The bombing was later postponed.
Also last week, Pushilin threatened to give an order to destroy the positions of the military if the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not provide an act on the removal of the structures erected on the contact line before September 3.
