Dodon met with the president of the Russian State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, and discussed with him various issues “related to the development and deepening of cooperation between Moldova and Russia in various spheres, including parliamentary.”
In addition, the former president of Moldova held a series of meetings, in particular with the head of the “Fair Russia” party Sergei Mironov, with whom he discussed the prospects for cooperation between his party and the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova.
On December 26, Dodon posted a photo with his family in Moscow’s Red Square, near the Kremlin.
The second round of the presidential elections was held in Moldova on November 15, 2020, the former prime minister of the country, European candidate of the Action and Solidarity party, Maia Sandu, received the support of 57.72% of the voters, her opponent Dodon – 42.28%. On December 24, Sandu was sworn in and assumed the presidency.
