Ukraine did no harm to Belarus, says Kuleba
The Belarusian authorities have prepared a sanctions list for Ukrainian officials in response to Ukraine’s accession to the EU sanctions.
Ukraine did not interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said, commenting on Minsk’s statement on the preparation of a sanctions list for Ukrainian officials. He said this on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24.
“Ukraine did not do any wrong towards Belarus and did not interfere in internal affairs. And therefore, with a clear conscience, we leave the final decision on possible sanctions on Belarus for consideration by the Belarusian authorities,” he said.
Kuleba noted “a very important detail” that the sanctions list is still being prepared, but has not yet been adopted.
Earlier, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said that Minsk had prepared sanctions against various Ukrainian officials due to Kiev’s adherence to EU sanctions against Belarus.
It should be recalled that on November 20, seven EU partner countries, including Ukraine, joined the sanctions imposed against the Belarusian authorities in relation to “the falsification of elections and the violation of human rights”.
