The Foreign Ministry demands clarification from Russia on the Normandy summit declaration
The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation said earlier that Zelensky’s words about the preparation of all parties for the summit are without foundation.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry demanded that Russia explain the words of Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko on the alleged falsity of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s words on the readiness of all parties for the summit of leaders of the Four from Normandy. This was stated in the comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Wednesday 16 September.
During an official visit to Austria, Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke not about a specific date for the next summit of leaders of the Normandy format, but about the early willingness of its participants to meet, the Foreign Ministry explained.
“If Andrei Rudenko’s statement is a clear signal that the Kremlin is not fundamentally interested in holding the N4 leaders’ summit, this casts doubt on the willingness of the Russian Federation to resolve the conflict,” the ministry says.
As noted in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the “insufficiently diplomatic and somewhat emotional comment” of the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation requires further clarification of the position of the Russian side for both participants in the Normandy format and for the international community.
“At a meeting of advisers and a political adviser in Berlin, which took place last Friday, the deputy head of Russia’s presidential administration, Dmitry Kozak, clearly said that there is still no reason to hold a new summit,” Rudenko said previously.
It was previously reported that Zelensky expects a new meeting in Donbass. Not all the issues were discussed at a meeting of political advisers to the heads of the Normandy Four last week, the president said.
