In the Sea of Azov, today October 24, an explosion occurred in an oil tanker. The tanker was sailing under the Russian flag.
This was reported by the Russian agency TASS.
According to agency sources, as a result of the explosion in the tanker, three people were overboard. Searches are underway now.
There is no information yet on the reasons for the explosion. It is also unknown whether the tanker was carrying oil and whether the explosion caused the leak.
Updated: a TASS source said the tanker was empty. The explosion occurred due to fumes from the remains of petroleum products. Ten crew members were rescued, but the fate of three is unknown.
According to the Russian Emergency Ministry, four people remain on board the tanker and will be evacuated in the near future.
Recall that in early September, a tanker caught fire off the coast of Sri Lanka. The fire on the ship could not be extinguished for several days.
