The IMF appreciated the hryvnia even more expensive than the compilers of the Big Mac index

The International Monetary Fund has released data on the hryvnia per dollar on purchasing power parity. In 2020, this exchange rate is 7.33 UAH / dollar, while the exchange rate is 27.20 UAH / dollar.

This is noted in the materials for the October review of the IMF’s “World Economic Outlook.”

According to the IMF, the nominal gross domestic product (GDP) per Ukrainian in 2020 at current prices will amount to $ 3,425 thousand, while at purchasing power parity – $ 12,710 thousand.

At the same time, the GDP of Ukraine in 2020 at current prices will amount to 142.25 billion dollars and, at purchasing power parity, 527.9 billion dollars.

Note that, as evidenced by data from the World Bank International Comparison Program Global Round in 2017, average prices in Ukraine were 33.4% of the world average. Price data is used to calculate GDP at purchasing power parity (PPP).

To support the calculations, the State Statistics Service provided information on average annual national prices and the distribution of gross domestic product (GDP) by end-use category.

Recall that according to the Big Mac index, the dollar in Ukraine should cost 10.33 UAH. In January 2020, the Ukrainian hryvnia fell to fourth place from the bottom on the list of the world’s most undervalued currencies in the updated index.
