The visa-free regime with the EU and a tranche of 1.5 billion euros may be canceled due to attempts by the Ukrainian authorities to install “their” head of the SAP.

The visa-free regime and the next tranche of assistance to Ukraine are threatened due to attempts by the Ukrainian authorities to put “their” head of the SAP. This was announced on Thursday, September 17, by the MEP and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee Viola von Cramon on his page in Twitter.

According to her, the Ukrainian authorities are putting pressure on their candidates for the post of head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

Kramon noted that the Ukrainian authorities are promoting candidates who lack experience and integrity.

“The Ukrainian government is threatening the visa-free regime with the EU and the subsequent tranche of aid in the amount of 1.5 billion euros,” he wrote, stressing that this will not be done.

Previously, the IMF made additional support to Ukraine dependent on the work of anti-corruption agencies.

We recall, today the Rada approved the members of the commission in the competition for positions in the SAP.
