The European Commission has developed five recommendations to combat COVID-19

EU countries are advised to share data on epidemics and medical experience, and pay attention to disease testing and monitoring.

European countries must coordinate their actions in five key areas to contain the coronavirus. This was stated by the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Ljaen, after a teleconference of the leaders of the EU member states on Friday, October 30.

Exchange of data between countries and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in real time. This will make it possible to assess the availability of intensive care options and, if necessary, provide cross-border care to patients. The European Commission has announced a mobilization of 220 million euros to finance the safe cross-border transport of these patients.

Exchange of experience, analytical and scientific data… To do this, a unique platform is launched that will bring together specialists who advise the governments of each country and assistance from experts at the level of the European Union.

Massive test… The Heads of State and Government agreed to establish a system of rapid mutual recognition of tests, especially the most recent ones. Coordination at European level will allow countries to find the optimal balance between ‘traditional’ and rapid tests and to mutually recognize their results across the EU, which will be especially important once freedom of movement for citizens is gradually renewed .

Disease monitoring… Already 22 countries have launched their own mobile app systems to track the spread of the coronavirus. The European Commission has developed a common platform for the interoperability of these applications and has encouraged all countries to join this platform.

Vaccination… In this area, the European Commission has identified three priorities: rapid acceptance of vaccines to ensure their reliability and safety, equitable distribution of vaccines and coordination at EU level of national vaccination plans.

Let us remember that the EU is introducing a unified system of movement in the Schengen area during the period of a pandemic. All regions will be classified into four color categories based on the prevalence of the disease. Each region will have border crossing rules.

It was also reported that the European Union has decided to create a unified strategy for COVID. In EU countries, systems for testing and monitoring citizens’ movements are not yet coordinated with each other.
