The EU is urged to immediately restore the anti-corruption structure in Ukraine
The European Union calls on Ukraine to immediately restore the anti-corruption structure, as this is a condition for visa-free and financial assistance.
The European Union called on Ukraine to immediately restore the anti-corruption structure after the CCU’s decision. This was stated by the EU representative for foreign and security policy, Peter Stano, on Tuesday, November 3.
The EU stressed that the fight against corruption is a condition for a visa-free regime and macro-financial assistance.
“The KSU decision has far-reaching implications for the entire anti-corruption infrastructure in Ukraine, created after the Dignity Revolution in 2014. The decision also casts doubt on a number of international obligations that Ukraine has assumed towards its international partners, including the EU, “added Stano.
Furthermore, the EU understands the complexity of the situation in Ukraine and appreciates the urgency with which the president and the government are trying to resolve it.
“We call on the Ukrainian authorities to quickly restore the legislation on electronic asset declaration and the corresponding tasks of the NAPK, as well as stabilize the legal status of the NABU. We call on the president, the government and the Verkhovna Rada to work together to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable solution. The EU stands ready to support our Ukrainian partners in this matter. ” , – summed up the representative of the EU.
We recall that previously the EU made a statement due to the crisis with the CCU. The European Union is concerned about the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and asked the deputies to “find a reasonable solution”.
It was also reported that the Council of Europe opposed the dissolution of the CCU. The Venice Commission and GRECO sent a letter to Dmitry Razumkov about Zelensky’s bill on the Constitutional Court.
