According to the exit poll conducted by the Sotsis Center for Sociological and Market Research, as of 7:30 p.m. in the second round of the Dnipro mayoral elections the current mayor of the city Boris Filatov is at the helm.

Dnipro Mayor Election 2020
Elections in Ukraine were scheduled for October 25 after the expiration of the 5-year term of the current local authorities. In particular, on this day a mayoral candidate vote was held.
In Dnipro, 17 candidates ran for the position of head of the city council. Boris Filatov became the leader of the elections, obtaining 46.41% support. This result was insufficient to announce the winner in a round, since in the country’s large cities, mayors are elected by an absolute majority.
The Territorial Electoral Commission has scheduled a second vote for November 22 and announced the names of the candidates who will continue to participate in the fight for mayor – Boris Filatov and Zagid Krasnov (ranked second with 13.15%).
Due to the quarantine, the vote was organized with restrictive measures. Voters underwent temperature control, it was mandatory to have a mask, observe social distance, and it was also recommended to use your own pen. Separate voting booths were installed for citizens with signs of illness.
Second round candidates
Boris Filatov – Mayor of Dnipro since 2015. Five years ago he ran for mayor for the UKROP party. In the first round he took second place and in repeated voting he outscored his OLEZ opponent Alexander Vilkul.
In 2014, Filatov became a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation in the majority district of Dnipro, but after being elected mayor, he resigned from parliament.
In 2014-2015 he worked as deputy chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk regional state administration, Igor Kolomoisky. Supervised domestic policy issues.
Previously, he was engaged in promotion, in 2005-2010 he was a television journalist, presented copyright programs on local television.
In the 2020 mayoral elections, Boris Filatov is nominated by the Proposition party. The political force was founded on the eve of the start of the electoral campaign by the mayors of several cities in Ukraine.
The opponent of the incumbent mayor in the second round of the elections in Dnipro was Zagid Krasnov, businessman, activist, head of a public organization and of the Hromadska Sila party.
Since 2015, he has been a city deputy, served as the secretary of the Dnipro City Council.In the last mayoral elections, Krasnov was ranked third and also ran unsuccessfully in 2010, then fourth.
Zagid Krasnov is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Dnepropetrovsk switch plant (chairman). Also in different periods he dedicated himself to business activities in the fields of alternative energies, rail transport, real estate.

In October, on the eve of the elections, Boris Filatov was the leader of the electoral preferences of the residents of Dnipro.
According to a study by the SOCIS Center, the acting mayor was supported by the absolute majority of those surveyed. The second line of the ranking was taken by the candidate of the Ukrainian Prospects Bloc Oleksandr Vilkul, and Zagid Krasnov was also in the top three.

Results of the first round of voting
Turnout in the Dnipro elections on October 25 was 28%. The Territorial Elections Commission allowed 17 candidates to vote.
The highest number of votes was received by Boris Filatov – 101,617, the second was Zagid Krasnov – he was supported by 28,804 voters. One of the main contenders for the position of mayor, Oleksandr Vilkul, was only 447 votes behind Zagid Krasnov: he obtained 28,357 votes.

The rest of the candidates received less than 1% of the support of the voters.
At the same time, in the city council elections, the majority of votes and deputy mandates were won by Boris Filatov’s party “Proposition” (22 deputies).
