On the afternoon of September 2, German government official Steffen Seibert said that according to laboratories of the German armed forces, Navalny suffered from a Novichok-class chemical warfare agent. German authorities demanded an explanation from Russia.

On the morning of August 20, the scheduled plane in which Navalny was returning to Moscow after a trip to Siberia, landed urgently in Omsk due to a sharp deterioration in the politician’s health. The opposition team believes that a toxic substance was mixed in their tea.

Navalny was on toxic resuscitation ambulance n. 1 of the hospital in Omsk unconscious, was connected to a ventilator. Navalny’s main diagnosis in a Russian hospital was called a metabolic disorder.

On August 24, German doctors announced that Navalny was poisoned… The specific substance that entered his body has not been named until today. Clinical data indicate intoxication with a substance from the group of cholinesterase inhibitors. The politician is still in a coma in artificial lung ventilation, there is no danger to his life, they say in Charité.

Nerve agent Novichok poisoned former Russian intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in 2018 in the UK. Also, In 2015, an assassination attempt was carried out on the life of a Bulgarian businessman, the arms dealer Emilian Gebrev, with the alleged use of a Novichok-class substance. All three survived the assassination attempt. According to British and Bulgarian police and investigative journalism, Russian military intelligence agents may be involved in these assassination attempts.
