As a result of the large-scale fires in the Lugansk region starting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 11 people were killed, another 17 were injured, according to the press service of the Attorney General’s Office.

It is noted that 11 people died, 17 wounded with burns and carbon monoxide poisoning were taken to medical facilities for immediate assistance.

“We have located and liquidated 116 fires, the rescue units are working in 30 more fire areas. According to preliminary estimates, the approximate area covered by the fire is more than 11 thousand hectares,” says the message.

Now more than 30 investigation teams are working on the ground. There were 20 inspections of the incident sites in the fire area, 58 people were questioned, including witnesses and victims.

The investigation is checking all versions of the occurrence of fires. The main ones are: bombing by separatists, arson, spontaneous combustion of pastures and forests due to weather conditions, careless handling of fire.

Meanwhile, the State Emergency Service reported that 31 settlements were in the area affected by the fire in the Lugansk region.

“The most difficult situation has developed along the demarcation line in the territory of the Stanichno-Lugansk, Novoaydarsk and Severodonetsk districts, where there were 31 settlements in the affected area. Of the eight most difficult outbreaks, one outbreak ( No. 1) between the settlements It was liquidated at 12:30 pm on October 1. The extinction of seven main centers continues, ”the statement said.

120 people were evacuated, including those from: Muratovo villages – 35 people (staying in Novoaydar village in a school and hospital), Voronovo – 40, Sirotino – 25, Oskolonovka – 20 (evacuees from three villages are in Severodonetsk). Currently, there is no spread of fire towards the city of Severodonetsk.

Today the fire has spread to the Stanytsia Luganskaya checkpoint. The situation is complicated by strong gusts of wind.
