The former company commander of the Berkut unit in Kharkov, Viktor Shapovalov, was reinstated in the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.

This is stated in the decision of the Kharkiv Regional Administrative Court of December 1, 2020.

According to the court’s decision, the ex-berkutov was reinstated in “the post of commander of the operational company No. 2 of the special-purpose public security police battalion of the Interior Ministry in the Kharkiv region”, from which he was dismissed in November 2015.

In addition, the court ruled to collect 11,297.20 hryvnia from the Interior Ministry in favor of Shapovalov for the days of “forced truancy”.

Recall that Viktor Shapovalov has been detained since 2015. The security official was accused of abuse of power, which caused the death or injury of activists during the 2014 Euromaidan.

According to the investigation, Shapovalov issued a criminal order that resulted in the death of three activists, as well as 107 people injured.

In October 2016, Shapovalov pleaded guilty in court, asked for forgiveness, and gave the names of former colleagues who received cartridges with lead pellets instead of rubber.

In November 2019, Shapovalov, who ordered the beating of the Maidanites, was released under nightly house arrest.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, November 30, 2020 marked exactly seven years since the security forces brutally dispersed the Euromaidan participants in Kiev.
