Maxim Stepanov claims that there are enough drugs in hospitals
An agreement was reached with the manufacturer of Remdesivir, said the head of the Ministry of Health.
The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated funds for the purchase of the antiviral drug Remdesivir for the treatment of patients with COVID-19. This was announced by the Minister of Health, Maxim Stepanov, during a briefing on Thursday 3 September.
“At a government meeting on Wednesday, a resolution was adopted on the allocation of funds for the purchase of Remdesivir. We have agreed to the purchase with the manufacturer,” he said.
At the same time, the minister said that medical institutions receive the necessary medicines and personal protective equipment (PPE) for 1.5 to 3 months.
“Medical institutions have PPE. In particular, 1.5 million biosafety suits, masks and respirators are provided for 1.5 to 3 months,” Stepanov said.
It was previously known that the Ministry of Health is negotiating the purchase of Remdesivir. It was claimed that it would be enough to treat 8,000 people.
Additionally, journalists reported that the Ministry of Health has yet to purchase protection for doctors from COVID-19.
