The coronavirus in Ukraine can only be defeated in one way, but it is fraught with consequences

The coronavirus in Ukraine can only be defeated with a complete lockdown. This opinion was expressed by the Minister of Health, Maxim Stepanov.

The official believes that everything in the country should be banned for at least three weeks. Only under this condition can we assume that the pandemic will recede. The head of the Ministry of Health spoke about this in an interview with Radio NV.

The fact is that 21 days is the maximum incubation period for the coronavirus.

“The best scenario is a complete lockdown. However, the reality is that we as a country cannot afford a complete lockdown,” Stepanov said.

The official stressed that with a total shutdown, people will lose their jobs and simply have nothing to buy food. Stepanov says that Ukraine now cannot afford the quarantine, which was in the spring.

At the same time, the official says that Ukraine will continue to follow the path of increased quarantine. And now the possibility of introducing a weekend quarantine is being considered. When only pharmacies, grocery stores and transportation will work on Saturdays and Sundays.

Meanwhile, the threshold of new coronavirus infections in Ukraine is approaching 10,000. Thus, on November 6, 9,721 new cases were detected.
