The head of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Alexander Novikov, said that the Constitution of Ukraine requires the Constitutional Court to publicly consider issues of public importance.

The closed session of the Constitutional Court on anti-corruption legislation was illegal. This was announced on October 28 by the head of the NAPK, Alexander Novikov, during a briefing, reports the correspondent for the “GORDON” edition.

“Article 147 of the Constitution of Ukraine requires that the Constitutional Court publicly consider matters of public importance. For the first time in its history, the Constitutional Court did not allow a presidential representative or the Verkhovna Rada to consider the matter,” Novikov said .

He added that the acting head of the Constitutional Court, Sergei Golovaty, personally made the decision not to allow the representatives of the president and the Verkhovna Rada to consider the issue.

NAPK today at 6:00 p.m. closed the registry of electronic declarations, executing the decisions of the Constitutional Court.

On October 27, the Ukrainian media, citing sources, said that the Constitutional Court of Ukraine recognized art. 366-1 of the Penal Code, which establishes a criminal penalty for declaring false information.

The representative of the Verkhovna Rada in the Constitutional Court Olga Sovgirya affirmed that the decision of the Constitutional Court, which it recognized as unconstitutional criminal responsibility for inaccurate declaration, was adopted with “flagrant procedural violations”.

The representative of the President of Ukraine in the KSU Fedor Venislavsky expressed the opinion of what is the decision may have negative consequences for the European integration of Ukraine.

On October 28, a meeting of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine addressed the President of Ukraine, the President of the Verkhovna Rada and the Prime Minister with a statement about the pressure on the court.
