The Cherkasy Regional State Administration stated that it had filed a lawsuit in the Cherkasy Regional Administrative Court demanding to cancel the decision to smooth the quarantine in Cherkassy from May 1. This was stated by the press service of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration.

The State Regional Administration explained its intention to the fact that the decision of the executive committee of the city of Cherkassy contradicts the decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers of March 11 and April 27, as well as the protocol of the meeting of the regional commission on Technogenic and environmental security and emergency situations of April 30.
Previously, the Cherkasy City Council Executive Committee decided to relax quarantine restrictions at the regional center. Therefore, work was allowed in the city for non-food stores, beauty salons, hairdressers, pet stores, workshops, funeral homes, and summer restaurants. Furthermore, citizens were allowed to walk in parks, squares, go to markets and fairs.
The mayor’s office explained that they met with business representatives who, due to the quarantine, were on the verge of survival.
The city government’s decision was criticized by the Minister of Health, and the Cherkassy police opened a criminal case.
In addition, President Vladimir Zelensky recorded a video message in which he reacted sharply to the mayor of Cherkassy’s attempts to cancel the quarantine ahead of schedule and gave him “ardent greetings”.
Later, the mayor of Lviv, Andrei Sadovy, and the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ruslan Martsinkiv, expressed their support for their colleague, the mayor of Cherkassy, Anatoly Bondarenko, against whom a criminal case was initiated due to the decision. to facilitate quarantine.
