The government of Ukraine has approved changes in traffic rules that increase the safety of the movement of children in car seats. The new regulations oblige drivers to have special restraint systems if they plan to transport a child whose height is less than 145 cm.

“Road safety is the No. 1 priority. Especially when it comes to our children. In Ukraine, the responsibility of drivers for violating the rules for the transport of children who are not riding in safety seats has already been strengthened. And we continue improving legislation, borrowing and applying key European approaches and standards to improve the safety of these transports “, – said Krykliy.
The approved changes define:
- special requirements for the installation of child restraint systems in vehicles (so that the car seat matches the child’s height);
- a list of vehicles for which exceptions to the rules for the use of child restraint systems are allowed (buses, ambulances, other specialized vehicles);
- replace the term “special means”, which is used in current traffic regulations, with the term “child restraint system”.
