Electricity in Ukraine will increase in price
Next year, Ukrenergo’s rates for gas supply will increase, leading to an increase in electricity prices for domestic consumers.
Electricity tariffs for the population may increase in Ukraine. Acting on the situation of the energy sector on Thursday, November 26 Minister of Energy Yuriy Boyko.
According to him, the rate change “with high probability” will occur during 2021.
“Today, the domestic consumer pays the producer 1 kopeck for electricity. In Ukraine, the weighted average cost of transporting electric power from the station to the building (this transport includes the transmission fee of Ukrenergo, the distribution fee for the distribution system operator and the actual tariff for the supply of a universal service provider) – UAH 13 kopecks, and the weighted average of 1 kWh for a domestic consumer for the past two months is UAH 14 kopecks, that is, from done, under the current PSO model, in which Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo sell electricity to the Guaranteed Buyer for 1 kopeck, and resell to suppliers that supply the population, in fact, you only pay for the supply, “Boyko said.
According to him, as of January 1, the Ukrenergo tariff will be at least 31 kopecks per kilowatt-hour transferred, and all this entails the cost of transporting electric power, including to domestic consumers, at a price of 1 hryvnia 37 kopecks. “Which makes the planned activities unprofitable even when you buy electricity for 1 kopeck,” Boyko said.
In relation to the current situation, the government is developing a solution that will provide not only a change in the rate for the population, but also a review of the subsidy system, an increase in the minimum wage, etc.
“The amount of subsidy at the current rate of the population for the year is about 55 billion hryvnia. So, decide, you can build a competitive model with such a suitcase without a handle. Somewhere you need to take the advertised amount and take it off. someone to balance the work of the market. ” – Boyko said.
At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Energy does not see any prerequisites for an increase in gas prices.
