Shmyhal declared positive effect of the weekend quarantine
The government will not extend the weekend quarantine and restrictions will be applied in the “orange” zone throughout the country.
Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said the weekend’s quarantine had a positive effect, so it will not be extended. Now only restrictions on the “orange” zone will be in force in Ukraine. This was stated during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, December 2.
“We received a positive effect at the end of the weekend quarantine, on November 30. During the previous week, we received 6,000 fewer cases of the disease than expected,” said the prime minister.
According to Shmygal, the Cabinet of Ministers is still making the most balanced decision regarding the possible tightening of quarantine restrictions. The government will announce the decision 7 days before its introduction.
The prime minister said authorities conducted a survey on optimal quarantine measures among mayors and heads of regional state administrations. According to Shmygal, almost 90% of the mayors surveyed supported a total ban on concerts. The establishment of a New Year tree in the city with a series of restrictions on visits has the support of almost 60% of the representatives of local government bodies.
It should be noted that hostels, tourist centers, except hotels, are prohibited in the “orange” zone; activities of entertainment establishments, night restaurants; planned hospitalizations; gyms, fitness centers (if distance cannot be guaranteed), accepting new shifts at children’s camps; Restrictions for public events: 1 person per 20 square meters and no more than 100 people.
Previously, the media reported that a strict quarantine will be introduced from December 23 to January 15, and this will be reported on Wednesday.
The Verkhovna Rada reported that the decision on the closure will be made before the end of the week after Stepanov’s report.
