During a visit to the UK, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky held an unannounced meeting with MI-6 chief Richard Moore, writes ZN.ua, citing sources.
Sources in the publication said that it was Moore who received instructions from the British government to convey to Zelensky the messages that Prime Minister Boris Johnson did not want to convey for various reasons.
During the meeting, three main topics were discussed:
- attacks by the Ukrainian authorities against anti-corruption agencies in Ukraine and the desire of the Office of the President to take control of SAP, NABU, the Office of the Attorney General and the courts;
- the situation in the East and the actions of Russia;
- Zelensky’s entourage, not only official, but also informal, which has a significant impact on the Ukrainian president.
The source of the publication said that the proximity of the meeting was dictated precisely by the discussion of people from Vladimir Zelensky’s circle: the British noticed information leaks.
«Earlier, the Americans raised the issue of the president’s inner circle during negotiations with the Ukrainian head of state. But his case was a pressure on the authorities. In the case of the British, this was a warning. In case Zelensky is not fully aware of the actions of the people with whom he is associated, ”the newspaper writes.
The very meeting with the head of MI6 is a remarkable fact and speaks of a high degree of interest in Ukraine and its president: the head of British intelligence does not often meet with the leaders of other states during his visits.
In addition to Zelensky, the meeting was attended by the head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov, but there were no representatives from the Office of the President.
Zelensky paid an official visit to the UK on October 7-8. On the first day of the visit, he and his wife Elena Zelenskaya met with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also met with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. They signed an agreement on political cooperation, free trade and strategic association.
In addition, in the presence of Zelensky, the heads of defense departments signed a memorandum on strengthening cooperation in the military and technical spheres, which provides for the allocation of a loan to Ukraine in the amount of $ 1.6 billion and re-equipment of the Navy of Ukraine.
