The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will decide today on the introduction of improved quarantine restrictions from January 8 to 24.
As reported by a UNIAN correspondent, this was stated by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, opening the government meeting.

“The situation is difficult, but we see some positive trends … There are three weeks until the end of the year, and during this period the government decided not to impose a strict quarantine,” he said.
However, according to him, today the government will decide on additional restrictions next year.
“From January 8 to 24 next year, enhanced quarantine restrictions will be introduced in Ukraine,” he added.
What is planned
The prohibition of work in cafes, restaurants, bars, except for delivery and “take away” orders; non-food stores, cinemas, fitness clubs, gyms, theaters, shopping and entertainment centers, with the exception of institutions that operate in the shopping and entertainment center and sell food, drugs, veterinary drugs, hygiene products and household chemicals .
“All educational institutions will be sent on vacation, except kindergartens. There will be a ban on any entertainment, advertising, sports, cultural and mass events during this period, “added the prime minister.
At the same time, in accordance with the restrictions established for the “orange” zone, currently in force on the territory of Ukraine, public transport will continue to function, so that people can get to work.
Additionally, as Shmygal added, they will operate grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, postal operators, and hotels.
Quarantine in Ukraine: what is known
- On November 11, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to abandon the adaptive quarantine and introduce a “weekend quarantine”. In particular, on weekends, in addition to the restrictions provided for on weekdays, the activity of catering establishments, shopping centers, cultural establishments, gyms, fitness centers, accommodation establishments, including hotels (except those that perform social functions). The “weekend quarantine” was in effect from November 14-30.
- On December 2, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal announced that the cabinet would not extend the “weekend quarantine.” The “orange” zone restrictions will apply nationwide.
- On December 4, Stepanov said that the Health Ministry will propose to the government to introduce a strict quarantine from the beginning of January for a period of three weeks.
- Previously, the media leaked information about the timing of the introduction of the blockade in Ukraine. The data is still different. So, according to one version, the country will be sent on sick leave from the first day of 2021 for two weeks, that is, from January 1 to January 14. The second, from January 8.
