Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (# 137 WTA) got off to a fantastic start at the US Open Tennis Championships.
In the first round match, the 18-year-old tennis player did not give a chance to former 10th racket in the world Daria Kasatkina of Russia (No. 70 WTA).
US Open. First circle
Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) – Daria Kasatkina (Russia) – 6: 1, 6: 2
The first set turned out better than you imagine. Kasatkina couldn’t find her game in any way, and Kostiuk immediately started. Martha displayed the aggressive and athletic style of play that we all love. She ran down the court and constantly pressured her opponent, not allowing her to recover.
The One Lost Game also came out in the best traditions of our 18 year old hope. During one of the rallies, he literally fired at the net from a couple of meters, screaming in frustration. This was followed by a game of emotions and two double errors. Otherwise, Kasatkina went to the second batch after the steering wheel.
The second set in a row wasn’t much different from the first, but there were still at least some hints of a possible fight. Of course, Martha herself is more “guilty” of this, because today she was a little taller. But as soon as Kasatkina won the second game, Marta decided to finish and not pull the intrigue. It’s not hard to guess that she did it easily.
Great game, great result. The main thing is to maintain this fighting spirit in the future.
In the next round, Kostyuk will play Corey Gauff (No. 50 WTA) or Anastasia Sevastova (No. 44 WTA).
Before, Angelina Kalinina lost her match. And Lesya Tsurenko withdrew from the tournament.
Note that on August 31, Marta Kostyuk’s mother celebrates her birthday.
