Russian General Ruslan Vakhitov was supposed to participate in the inspection of the fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Shumov area of the Donetsk region, without him there was no point in Ukraine accepting the patrols. The problem was the intention to involve militants in the inspection, Donetsk journalist Sergei Garmash, a member of the political subgroup of the trilateral contact group, said in an interview with Radio Svoboda.
“For us Russia is part of the conflict. If a Russian general appears there, then this is understandable to us. And we do not harm ourselves in any way, we do not legitimize ORDLO as subjects. But when the representatives of the so-called” LPR “and “DPR” appear there, so this is already subjectivization. This is wrong. And that the Russian generals speak with ours. He emphasized that the fears in society and in the military were caused by attempts through the inspection in Shumy to admit that the militants had a political status, and not contact with them.
“The military, who are directly on the contact line, can be contacted in one way or another. I know there are different agreements. And, sorry, to go to the other side to the store to buy cigarettes, it can be like that. It’s informal. But when the state at the level of the Office of the President recognizes the subjectivity of the puppets – this is already dangerous, ”Garmash said.
On September 5, the leader of the DPR militants, Denis Pushilin, demanded the Ukrainian military to vacate the fortified positions in the Shumy settlement area, as they were allegedly established “illegally”. According to the leader of the “DPR”, the Russian terrorist troops were going to bomb these positions.
The commander of the Joint Forces operation in Donbass, Lieutenant General Vladimir Kravchenko, said that the Ukrainian army did not violate the agreements in the village of Shumy. He expressed the opinion that the militants want to break the truce with their accusations.
On September 10, the OSCE, accompanied by militants of the DPR, planned to inspect the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the Shumy settlement, an agreement was reached on such patrol on September 9 at a meeting of the group trilateral contact. The Office of the President of Ukraine said that the presence of militants in the patrol would be limited.

On September 11, the head of the Ukrainian delegation of the trilateral contact group to resolve the situation in Donbass, Leonid Kravchuk, expressed his hope that the inspection of the Ukrainian positions near Shumy could take place in a few days.
