During the last day, September 10, the coronavirus disease in Ukraine was confirmed for the first time in 3144 people; this is an absolute record for the entire pandemic.
Judging by the statistics on the incidence of the coronavirus, no restrictions in Ukraine work at all. The country hit new anti-records this week. On September 10, 3,144 people were diagnosed with coronavirus in Ukraine. Most new cases of the disease were found in the regions of Kiev (404), Ternopil (302), Odessa (283), Kharkov (280), Khmelnytsky (198) and Lviv (174).
In total, 148,756 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed since the start of the epidemic in Ukraine, 3,076 people have died, 67,000 people have recovered.
A new division of the country into zones will operate on Monday. Kiev will move to the orange zone and Ivano-Frankivsk has been stuck in the red zone for several weeks.
Correspondent.net monitors the situation with the coronavirus in the country.
New zones
Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Chernivtsi remained in the red zone of the regional centers.
In the orange zone: Kiev, Kharkov, Lvov, Vinnitsa, Uzhgorod, Sumy and Khmelnitsky.
Lutsk, Zhytomyr, Nikolaev, Odessa, Rovno, Cherkasy and Chernigov are in the yellow zone.
This means that the following restrictions will apply in Kiev from September 14:
– Mass events (cultural, sporting, social, religious and others) are allowed with the participation of no more than 220 people – 1 person for every 10 m2 of construction area
– The activities of institutions that provide accommodation services are prohibited, except hotels

– Carrying out planned hospitalizations by medical institutions is also temporarily limited. This does not apply to the provision of medical care to pregnant women, newborns, cancer patients, palliative patients and cases where there is risk to the patient’s life.
– The activity of gyms and fitness centers is prohibited, except establishments that can provide a visit of no more than 1 person for every 10 m2 of premises
– It is prohibited to admit children to children’s health and recreation institutions, sanatoriums and camps in the capital and the suburbs.
– Passengers are transported by road and urban public transport only in the amount of 50% of the seats.
Time to look?
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko called on the police to closely monitor the movement of patients in self-isolation.
“I want to go to the National Police! The situation with the disease in the capital, as well as in the country, is difficult. Most patients are treated in self-isolation. Many patients who have tested positive for the virus are asymptomatic. And some Patients behave irresponsibly – they visit public institutions. The police, who receive data on patients, are obliged to track the movement of patients who are in self-isolation. And monitor their compliance with the conditions of self-isolation. As required by law “, – said Klitschko.
Schools and kindergartens
In the Kiev region, as of September 10, the coronavirus disease was detected among teachers and students in 59 schools.
Almost 8 thousand students have already been transferred to distance education. In addition, in the Kiev region, as of September 10, 11 kindergartens were closed due to quarantine.
But in Ivano-Frankivsk, where the situation with the coronavirus is worse from September 14, kindergartens will gradually open and schools will operate remotely.
In Kiev, since September 1, three educational institutions have been quarantined: two schools and a kindergarten.
According to a survey by the Rating group, 72% of Ukrainians believe that children should attend school this year, 19% – that a mixed form of partial distance learning is needed, and only 5% – that children they should study completely remotely.
According to the results of the survey, 40% of Ukrainians have a negative attitude towards the introduction of restrictive measures to organize education in schools starting from the new academic year. 30% are positive about it, 22% are neutral. Relatively more than those who have a negative attitude to restrictive measures among respondents living with children under 17 years of age.
Will there be a hard quarantine?
Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said authorities did not plan to return Ukraine to a strict quarantine. According to him, the adaptive quarantine, which is in place now, is working.
Ukraine may return to a strict quarantine if the incidence of the coronavirus grows symmetrically in all regions. However, the minister described this scenario as apocalyptic.
Ukraine’s medical director Viktor Lyashko believes that in March, when significantly fewer cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Ukraine, the quarantine was more necessary than now.
“Never in my life will I be ashamed of the fact that we introduced quarantine restrictions in March. We have saved the lives of hundreds, perhaps thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of people, ”he said.
Lyashko recalled that in March, the health system was not ready for the coronavirus pandemic.
But even adaptive quarantine is not so happy.
“This is anarchy. Business operations are again prohibited, and without tax exemptions or compensation. Now all taxes are collected in full, you have to pay the salaries to the employees, pay the rent. Where do you get money for all this “And again, small and medium-sized companies suffer the most.” Why do they forbid hostels, but allow hotels? How do private entrepreneurs pay taxes and wages? They will simply have to fire the staff by hook or by crook, there is no other way out, “says Sergei Dorotich, director of the Union for the Protection of Entrepreneurship.
