Television is once again the center of attention. Kolos and Desna drew

This match met teams that have a lot in common. Judge for yourself. Last season they were close to the top of the Ukrainian Premier League standings, allowing them to represent our country in qualifying for the Europa League earlier this fall. There they also performed unsuccessfully simultaneously, never reaching the group stage. And before the head-to-head match, the rivals were close to each other at a distance of just one point. What’s more interesting, both Kolos and Desna suffered some pretty nasty losses in the previous round. The former lost to Vorskla 0: 3 with a great score, while the Chernihiv players lost 0: 1 to one of the tournament’s outsiders, Lvov, at home.

For various reasons, both mentors had some issues with the player applications for this fight. For example, Vitaly Gavrish, Nikita Kravchenko, Evgeny Morozko were absent from the local team, while the guests did not have Andrei Totovitskiy, Vladislav Kalitvintsev, Yegor Kartushov. However, the squads were quite close and already in minute 5 Andrei Bogdanov hit the first shot on goal, but Evgeny Past played reliably, taking the ball in his hands.

And soon “Kolos” took the lead. In the 11th minute, in a harmless situation, the ball hit the hand of Andrei Mostovy, who was in his own penalty area. Match referee Vitaly Romanov immediately pointed to the penalty spot and, after consulting with the assistants in charge of the VAR, did not change his decision. Vladimir Lysenko clearly converted the penalty, as if coming through the lower right corner of the goal. The ball hit the post and flew into the net.

Very little time passed and the situation almost repeated itself on the opposite side of the field. In the 25th minute, Evgeniy Volynets, knocking out the ball, hit it in the hand of Alexander Chernomorets. This time Vitaly Romanov not only listened to the opinions of his VAR assistants, but went to look at the monitor himself. As a result, another penalty kick was awarded in this match, which Philip Budkovsky also confidently implemented, spreading the ball and the goalkeeper in different corners.

Both before and after the second penalty, the game was generally the same. Both teams tried to attack with great forces and alternately created dangerous moments. Kolos featured Denis Antyukh, Vladimir Lysenko and Yevgeny Zadoya, while Levan Arveladze, Mikhail Mudrik and Alexey Gutsulyak were active in Desna. But his punches missed the mark. So, generally speaking, the outcome of the draw was quite natural at the end of the first half.

Almost immediately after the break, match referee Vitaly Romanov and his VAR assistants were back in the spotlight. This came after Efim Konoplya, taking advantage of a long pass from his midfield from Vladislav Ogiri, from an acute angle down the right, struck into the far corner. The goal seemed to have been scored according to all the rules. However, the judges determined that even before Ogiri, Desna’s defender Maxim Imerekov played with his hand. As a result, the goal was canceled and Imerekov also received a yellow card.

The guests, of course, were upset by this decision, however, they continued to seek happiness in the goal of the rivals. Then, in the 61st minute, Andrei Mostovoy dived into the upper corner of the goal, but Evgeny Volynets played excellently in this episode, stopping the ball in a jump. In the 76th minute, Levan Arveladze, after receiving a pass from the kick, burst into the locals’ penalty area and shot under the crossbar. However, club goalkeeper Kovalevsky was back in place, turning the ball for a corner. And two minutes later, Evgeniy Volynets simply saved his team from a conceded ball after Efim Konoplya shot dangerously from outside the penalty area.

Kolos also had attacks in the second half, but unlike opponents, they had almost no logical conclusion. And only with the standards at the end of the meeting, the local team could count on success. However, in the 89th minute, Alexander Chernomorets fired a free kick far from goal, and in the first minute offset by the referee after a pass from Andrei Bogdanov, Pavel Orekhovsky shot his head over the goal. Interestingly, in this episode, Judge Vitaly Romanov resorted to the use of VAR, considering that Joonas Tamm was holding back Yevgeny Seleznev. But they told him that everything was according to the rules.

And already in the last minute compensated, the guests were a minority. Maxim Imerekov received a red card for the second warning.

This is how, we can say “VARist”, this match turned out, which ended in a 1: 1 draw. And the audience will remember it, most likely, not because of the game itself, but because of the decisions of the referees.
