Borrell’s remarks in a conversation with Zelensky were viewed by political observers as rude

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who entered self-isolation on October 5, will not be able to participate in the October 6 summit.

The Vice President of the European Commission for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, will lead the European delegation at the Ukraine-EU summit. This was stated by the president of the European Commission, Eric Mamer, on Monday, October 5 in Brussels, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported.

According to him, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, who on October 5 went into self-isolation for one day (self-isolation in the case of the coronavirus lasts 14 days), will not be able to participate in the October 6 summit.

Mamer said that on October 6, von der Leyen will also not chair the European Commission meeting and will not be able to attend the European Parliament meeting. According to him, the president of the EC has no symptoms of coronavirus and is fine.

Let us remember that the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, after his visit to Ukraine, wrote on his blog that he told President Volodymyr Zelensky: “The EU is not an ATM.” However, this phrase was later removed from the text.
